Vendor Picks: 10 Makers from Funky Finds Holiday Experience ’19

April 17, 2021 |
Collage showing six of the ten highlighted artisans from funky finds 2019 event

A few weeks have passed since Funky Finds’ 2019 Holiday Shopping Experience, but it has taken me that long to go through all my photos and decide on just a few artisan highlights for this event.  And by just a few, I mean that I could not narrow it down beyond the ten I have selected here. The struggle is real, y’all. It is hard to pick just a few artisan highlights when a sea of talent is unfolding before you, but I can’t wait to share these awesome vendors with you!

Artisan Highlights

The 2019 Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience housed so many vendors that it had to be spread across two full buildings.  If you saw me go live on facebook, then you got a good peek at how large the event was.  I spent four hours shopping and chatting with the vendors, and still I wasn’t able to stop by and visit with half of them–which just means I will have plenty more folks to meet next time!

Can you imagine breathing new life into recycled paper and coming up with something as stunning as these pieces by 31:13? This unique, gorgeous, eco-friendly artwork is created with rolled strips of magazine adhered to canvas.  She also makes jewelry, bowls, and other home decor out of recycled paper.

These beautiful succulent arrangements are the gift that keeps on giving, whether it’s for someone else or yourself.  Jayme has an amazing eye for color and texture, sending you home with your own little planter full of sunshine–and she won’t leave you hanging when it comes to plant care either.

I still cannot get over these ahhhdorable stuffed animals.  My 2 year old held that sloth like it was a tiny baby, and my whole heart melted.  Not to mention the fact that Kayla’s stitches are so perfectly even that just looking at them feels like meditation.

Walking into Annette’s booth felt like walking into the home of an old friend. Her space was wall to wall with all types of home decor, each handmade with love and ready to bring warmth and cheer to their next new home.

I was sitting outside earlier this week, when the weather was wonderfully mild and the sun had just set, and I found myself looking at the bare trees set against the pale blue sky and remembering the pieces I had seen in Jenny’s booth just weeks before.

One of my biggest regrets is not learning how to play a musical instrument, and I will remedy that someday… but until then, I am glad to show off Wastella’s gorgeous repurposed, reclaimed instruments with wistful glee to anyone who’s got the music in them.

Collage of 4 vendors from the funky finds artisan highlights with title text "vendor highlights funky finds holiday 2019"

These artisan highlights represent about 5% of the vendors that Funky Finds had to offer. It was such a blessing to have several hours to walk the event and chat with a wide variety of artists about their art. You can’t help but feel inspired and invigorated by the vast talent that surrounds us in our own local communities. A hearty “well done!” both to Funky Finds and the awesome artisans that were setup there. Thanks for a beautiful day.

90% of The Quintero Family’s Christmas lights display (known as “The Peaceful Meadow”) is handmade. 😱 Evelyn makes much of the display with her 3d pen, including an entire field of illuminated flowers. 👏

My latest crafting acquisition is the Xyron Creative Station 900, and I am LOVING it. I snagged this awesome morning routine printable and a series of illustrated affirmations from @biglifejournal, customized it to our needs, and then used the Creative Station to turn it into a laminated magnet. The tasks can be swapped out as needed (we have about 2 dozen), and the “done” signs can be placed over the tasks as the kids finish them up.

I then added some reposition-able pads on the back to make it mirror friendly. We will be swapping out the affirmations weekly. The kids are loving it so far. 🥰 #craftersgonnacraft #xyron #biglifekids #biglifejournal #craft #growthmindset #adhd #kidcrafts #morningroutine #affirmations #craftlife

We are kicking it old school today with potato stamps. I used to carve these babies by hand back in the day, but did you know it is RIDICULOUSLY EASY to make them with cookie cutters? Ridiculously. easy.

Just push the cookie cutter into the potato, and then use a knife to go around the edge and pop off the excess. It took less than a minute. Happy stamping! 🥔 #crafting #valentinesdecor #kidscraft #stamping #paint #creativelifehappylife #littlemakers We are kicking it old school today with potato stamps.
